Who’s It For?

TaylorMade has been one of the leaders in the golf industry in creating drivers, and their new releases are always among the most anticipated of the year. In 2021, TaylorMade is releasing the SIM2 drivers, which build upon the success of the original SIM drivers in 2020. TaylorMade used a combination of new construction methods and successful ideas from the past to build the three SIM2 driver models. Of the three models, the standard SIM2 will provide the lowest spin and will generally fit players with faster swing speeds.

The Tech Story

Driving the performance in the new TaylorMade SIM2 drivers is the all-new Forged Ring Construction, which TaylorMade says unlocks a new dimension in distance and forgiveness. The design wraps around the back weight of the Inertia Generator on all three models, uniting the sole, the crown, and the new milled back cup face together. Forged from lightweight, high-strength aluminum and milled to an exacting shape, this material provides more stability than ever found before in a TaylorMade driver, resulting in better overall performance. Additionally, the SIM2 drivers feature a handful of innovations that have keyed success in recent years for TaylorMade. The Inertia Generator, originally introduced in the M6 driver and refined since, adds clubhead speed on the downswing through geometry and aerodynamic analytics. Meanwhile, Speed Inject Twist Face maximizes ball speed by ensuring each clubhead is calibrated to the legal speed limit with a unique face curvature that improves performance on toe and heel mis-hits. The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket is designed to improve performance on low-face strikes and resist the increase in spin on those hits. Overall, the SIM2 is designed for mid-launch and low spin, a combination that best benefits players with high swing speeds.
